Should childfree people be taxed heavily?

Accept for people who can't have children due to medical reasons.

Isn't it shocking in today's open-minded and progressive times, there exist people who shy away from the responsibility of parenting. Should childfree people be taxed heavily (like 70% of their income should go to the government)? Wouldn't it be a nice idea to encourage people to have more kids?Should childfree people be taxed heavily?
WTF? No they shouldn't be taxed any more than the next person. Did you stop to think that they don't want kids because they don't want or need the responsibility of being a parent, or maybe they don't want kids yet? If you think child free people should be taxed more then why not tax the people that can't have them due to medical reason, child free is child free, after all. Right? Honestly this is the dumbest question ever!Should childfree people be taxed heavily?
';Should childfree people be taxed heavily?'; NO

';Isn't it shocking in today's open-minded and progressive times, there exist people who shy away from the responsibility of parenting.'; I think you meant to put a question mark on this, but again, NO.

';Should childfree people be taxed heavily (like 70% of their income should go to the government)? Wouldn't it be a nice idea to encourage people to have more kids?'; NO and NO.

What about people who have children and don't take care of them properly?

Does the government have the right to request confidential and private medical information and make decisions based on it??
Noooo....

I would agree that childfree people have more extra income. And it makes sense to tax them a little more heavily. But 70%? No way!

The reason it would make sense to tax them more heavily would be if they don't have any dependents to claim, then the money they do earn doesn't have to be split between as many people. ... And that reasoning throws people who don't have kids due to medical reasons in the same group as those who don't have children because they don't want them.

Besides, I think that the world already has too many kids. Not that I could select any 1 to send back ... But there are already too many kids born into situations where they won't be properly taken care of. I don't want to have any part of more kids being born into that situation. Plus, more people would equal more big cities - I'm a small-town / country girl and would personally be VERY ANGRY if there were so many people I couldn't have my own little piece of land and nice big house. (not that I have these things, but I'm glad to know that they exist)
Are you aware that parents already get to take a $3500 deduction for each child? In addition, they can get education tax credits and deduct the child's medical expenses. So in a sense, child free people are already taxed more heavily. Low income parents may be benefit from taxpayer supported programs such as Medical assistance, WIC, and TANF. Why would we want to make the burden even heavier? Having children is not a social responsibility, and if people have more than they can afford, the society will pay to support them. Your argument has no basis in fact.
Why on earth would we tax people who don't want to have children?

I think this is a very badly thought out idea. For a start not everyone can afford to have children, never mind give out 70% of their income. Those who already have low incomes and those who have mental or physical disabilities cannot be told they must have children.

Being a parent is a choice that we step into of our own free will. Yes, its a pleasure being a mother but if someone isn't ready financially or mentally then they shouldn't have children. The world is populated enough and their are many children across the world in foster or adoption homes looking for families. Lets house them before we start forcing people tp have children, eh?
What are you talking about? We already are! I get less in my income tax return and I pay more in payroll taxes (almost 3K a month) for the simple fact that I'm not married with kids. So pretty much I'm being taxes about 35% - 45% of my annual income vs. someone who has children. And yes, I chose not to have kids because I refuse to raise children in this day and age. There's too much going on with kids being killed in schools by other kids, by their parents, and being kidnapped and found dead. I really don't want to endure anything like that. And I feel personally that I'm just not the mothering type. I would rather go childless than have a child that I really didn't want in the first place (for the sake of please people such as yourself, who believe that it's my duty to have a child). Why do you care if I chose to have a child or not. Its really none of your business.
And why would we want to do that? Are you really saying that there aren't enough people on this earth?

Are you really saying that people should be forced to make lifestyle choices that would make them miserable (and, by extension, make their children miserable.) ';Yes dear, you were born solely so that we wouldn't be taxed into bankruptcy. Now run off and play and stop bothering me.';
This is ridiculous...sorry but not everyone is meant to be a parent. I am a parent so I'm not one of the people you are talking about, but I definately don't believe people should be punished because they don't want to have kids and just so it can help support people who live and breathe having babies. If people want to have tons of babies thats their choice and if people want to have none that is also their choice.
You are an idiot. No. I think it's more responsible not to have kids if you don't want to or you can't afford it. And look at all of these welfare moochers purposely having kids so that the tax payers pay them more money. Do you think that is more responsible? And likely their kids grow up to be just like them. That is morally irresponsible!!!!
What the hell? With todays population problem you want to force people to have more children? Or to punish them for NOT having children? Oh that's a great idea. Even better, lets encourage people who don't want to be parents or shouldn't be parents to have kids. Let's make more unfit parents so we can have more screwed up kids in the world. Yay!!

Jeez. Not everyone wants kids. Get over it.
No... when idiots breed, you get more idiots. There are enough of them in the world. Breeding is definitely not for everyone.

And no, it wouldn't be nice to encourage people to have more kids... the world is over populated as it is.

What about children who are abused, or neglected? Should their parents have more kids too?
Have you ever filled out a tax return? People without children are already highly taxed.

I have 5 more years being able to claim 2 dependents (aka children) and after that I will paying twice the taxes I do now. You think that will make me want to start all over again? Not bloody likely.
HAHA that's the funniest and most ridiculous question I've ever seen. I doubt it's real.

Anyway I think child free ppl should get a TAX BREAK because they are helping the environment, helping human overpopulation and savings the states tons of money from welfare and foodstamps and childcare programs.
They are taxed in the US, by virtue of the fact that they don't get a tax credit or exemption for having children or dependents.

And why, in this age of overpopulation, would we want to encourage more people to have children?
Do I smell a troll??

I dont want kids....what ya gonna do about it? and if you think anyone can afford 70% tax, then you have never worked a day in your life. I assume your little bundles of joy are living off welfare....how nice for them, to be skint and not be able to afford trainers, which we all know if you dont have the right ones on council estates, you get beaten up.
Um, no.

People without kids are ALREADY subsidizing the school system and other programs that help families with kids.

Why should the government be encouraging people to have kids, anyway?

I think you are nuts.
I thought it was more open-minded and progressive to accept that some people don't want kids and shouldn't have them. You want more kids in this world? You have them, and leave everyone else alone.
People with children use more resources than people without... i.e. public schools, more trash, more environmental waste, so people with kids should actually be the ones who are more heavily taxed. Nice try though.
lemme guess, ur a catholic woman w 10 kids lookin for a big payout?? what a stupid proposition. the worlds already overpopulated as it is. ur not doin society any good by popping more lil humans out.
you are an idiot. just because you want kids doesn't mean you should try to force people to have kids. why don't you have 20 kids if you care so much about kids.
';Isn't it shocking in today's open-minded and progressive times';....really. Maybe you should get with the times...or stop trolling.
The world is already overpopulated. And single adults already pay more taxes than single parents.
Just the opposite. If can afford them, have 'em. If not, don't burden the rest of us childfree taxpayers...especially if they're going to be indigents.
No, they shouldn't pay any taxes.

Why should they pay for people who

can't practice birth control for God's sake.
I suspect you are trolling, so I won't rant here.

Your suggestion is ludicrous.
No.

Simple.
Ohhh Shut the EFF up!
No....it's not for you to decide. Live your own life, and leave childfree couples alone.
Your a joke.
no it is their choice rather or not to have children. you shouldn't judge someone else if they do not want to have kids
absolutely not.

shame on you
