I'm childfree, what would non-childfree people think of this lifestyle?

I am childfree, meaning that I've officially made a decision not to have any children, biological or otherwise. Not just for a little while either; I've decided I want nothing to do with parenthood- my entire life.





Please note that I have nothing against parents or children. In fact, for the most part I like kids, I just don't think I would ever make a very good full-time caretaker. If I liked children that much, I'd rather help sick kids or at-risk youth.





I know childfree people aren't very well-received in American (or general) society at the time, however, I would like to know what exact opinions non-childfree people hold of us and how to deal with this in life (for coworkers, friends, neighbors or bosses).

I have a five year old daughter. My personal opinion is if you don't want to have children don't not everyone is meant to have children. You going to have kids because you feel society thinks you should that's a stupid reason to have kids. If you like kids but don't want them 24 hours a day,volunteer at Big brothers/sisters.These kids need some like you.I'm childfree, what would non-childfree people think of this lifestyle?
ok, i don't have kids, but i want to have them. what i think about you is...';good for you!'; if you want want kids, THANK YOU for not having them! the world is full of people who aren't too excited about the kids they have, and it's sad.





you are entitled to your decision, i can't think of why someone would argue with you. i see nothing wrong with it. as long as you understand when your coworker has to leave work early to be with their sick kid, and they understand why you keep asking them to go out for drinks after work...it's all good to me.
it's your choice not to have kids. do not let anyone put you down for your decisions. child-rearing is a very complex and hard task that requires all your energy and good upbringing to satisfy a child and others in society.
i think it is great that you can stand up, make a decission, and stand by it, and i'll fight for your ';right'; to do so.





i know my son and others have and are doing so.
I think it's great. Better to responsibly choose not to have kids than to have them and give them a poor upbringing like so many parents choose to do!!
I think its great....If u dont want to have kids then dont have them...I have one child, I dont want to have anymore biologically, but I would want to adopt.
I don't mind childfree people, but I hate when they are all ';IM SO HXC!!!!'; and try to tell you how awful you are for having children and blah blah blah.





It's the same with fundies. I don't care if you're religious or not, just don't be an asshole about it.
I think its your choice...but what would you have to live for?
